Chapter Twelve

“Fuck you!” Sterling spit at the Alpha as the other wolf continued his torture on his back, slowly and permanently marking him as a slave to Aleksander. As soon as the mark was completed, he would lose all ability to think on his own. Aleksander would take everything from him and use him to take down the Coven. None of them would be safe.

“No, vampire,” Aleksander growled, lifting his head from the table and twisting it to look at him. “Fuck you and your entire bloodline. Fuck every last damn one of you. You and your faction have taken everything away from me. Now, I will take everything from all of you.”

“You’ll never get away with this,” Sterling growled, as Aleksander tightened the chains holding him, preventing him from moving even an inch. His arms were stretched out to his sides, his shoulders taunt with strain, as it felt like they were about to pop out of their sockets.

“I already have,” Aleksander laughed, slamming Sterling’s head into the table and pulling a chair up in front of him. “Your female fled from here as quickly as she could. The mark only works if you offered yourself willingly, which you did. Your Sire has no claim on you anymore. And as of last night, you are were no longer protected by the council. The fact that your mate left you here, though, I must say, that part caught me off guard. If you were truly mated, she would have fought to the death for you. I’m a little disappointed that she wasn’t as into you as you were into her.”

“Stryker will never let this stand,” Sterling growled as Aleksander tightened his chains another link.

“Everyone knows he broke his bond with you,” Aleksander laughed. “You didn’t really think it was a secret, did you?”

Sterling only glared at the wolf. There was no reasoning with a psychopath. In Aleksander’s eyes, he did no wrong because he was owed a debt. A life for a life. Stryker had taken Aleksander’s mate's life, and Aleksander wouldn’t rest until he had his pound of flesh.

“Your mate hasn’t claimed you, nor have you claimed her. However, stepping down from the council had been your downfall, just in case you were wondering where you went wrong. You removed your last strand of protection by stepping down. And the best part is you have not sworn to a faction. God, how I’ve waited for a moment like this. You have no idea how much fun I will have with you.”

Sterling gritted his teeth as another round of saltwater was dumped on his back, burning through the damaged skin and searing the ink into place. The saltwater would prevent the skin from healing, preventing his body from pushing the ink from his skin. It would take weeks for him to recover from the mark they were digging into him fully.

“All done,” the wolf behind him announced, dousing him with salt water again before slapping his latex-covered hand down hard in the center of his back.
